What is a foresight professional?

Ask 10 people, get 12 answers. Some scan for signals. Some design futures experiences. Some build the systems behind the scenes. Some speak on global stages. Others build the tools that make futures work possible.

Like a colour wheel, foresight shows up in a spectrum. And no two practitioners blend the same.

That’s why Deborah Hayek, MBA and Sabrina Sullivan are building a framework to map how foresight professionals contribute — not by title, but by what they make possible. It seeks to capture both the visible work and the invisible infrastructure that sustains it.

They have drawn on our combined experience as researchers, corporate practitioners, global consultants, and University instructors (University of Michigan, HEC Montreal). At this point, we’ve tested our model against some existing datasets, but we are ready to take it further.

This is open research. And, we want your voice!

Academics, consultants, corporate foresight pros, researchers, and others from the foresight world – join us and help shape the model.
